As a school, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils. We are an Operation Encompass School. We recognise that everyone who comes into contact with children has a duty to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.   

We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works in the school who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult, including governors and volunteers. All members of staff therefore, whether paid or voluntary, are required to have an enhanced DBS check and are not allowed to start work at the school until this check has been completed.  

We are committed to working with parents positively, openly and honestly. We always encourage parents to discuss any concerns they may have with the school as soon as possible.

Keeping children safe is of paramount importance, we keep information (Single Central Register) for all staff and staff are vetted against safer recruitment checks.   All staff are given Level 1 and 2 Safeguarding training. SIMS is used to record racist and bullying incidents.

Pupils have opportunities to develop an understanding for Online Safety – including cyber bullying - during PSHE sessions.  

We stay up to date with Department for Education policy trough training and staff are  informed about Multi-Agency Practice Guidelines on Female Genital Mutilation and are aware of the risks of radicalisation & 'prevent strategy'.
