This week in EYFS.....

Juniper Class

In Juniper class, we have been focusing on functional fine motor skills, such as using a pincer grasp to pick up one item at a time, using big tweezers and scoops for emptying and filling. We are beginning to learn how to open and close scissors using playdough tools.

In Maths, we are beginning to move from sorting shapes by colours and properties to matching shapes to copy simple patterns. This is fun to explore different orientations, which is great for problem-solving!

Oak Class

Oak class had a fun visit to the school library where we engaged in different stories. We looked at the book 'Sharing The Shell' by Julia Donaldson, which is our focus text for this half term.

Oak class also had a blast during Attention Autism Maths, watching exciting items being pulled from the bucket. The walking crab was our favourite!

What is Attention Autism?
Originally developed by Gina Davies, Attention Autism is a teaching approach designed to support children with autism in developing attention, communication, and engagement skills through highly motivating, visually stimulating activities. While its roots are in supporting learners, the engaging, sensory-based approach benefits a wide range of pupils.
