This week in the Discovery Pathway.....
This week in Cedar class...
In Cedar Class this week, we have been exploring mark making and sentence writing linked to the story of The Ant and the Grasshopper. Some children are now saying their own sentences and then writing them down independently.
We spent some time in the poly tunnel in Work Related Learning / Horticulture, planting flower seeds, and watering our beans, potatoes, and radishes. This also links to our Science learning about plants. This week we learned how plants make seeds to grow new plants. We explored different fruits to find the seeds inside. This included tomatoes, passion fruit, mango, avocado, and orange. We were very surprised to find that our orange didn't have any seeds for us to explore! We learned that seeds come in all shapes and sizes. Our learners are developing a great understanding of how to grow and care for plants.
In Maths we have been making groups and counting them. Some of our learners can even count their groups in twos, fives and tens!
We love our weekly yoga sessions with our lovely yogi, Sam. We use our bodies to stretch and make shapes and learn how to use our breaths to calm our bodies.
We are so proud of all our learners!

This week in Maple class...
Maple Class acted on feedback from their pupil voice questionnaire by organising a train trip, something the learners had expressed a strong interest in. Today, we met Sara at Par train station, who gave us an informative guided tour of the station. The learners had the opportunity to explore different areas, including a visit to the signal box where they learnt how trains are managed and kept safe on the tracks.
Some of the learners confidently spoke over the tannoy, making announcements just like real station staff, which was a fantastic confidence-building experience. We then boarded our train and travelled to St Austell, enjoying the journey and observing the scenery along the way. After spending some time there, we returned back to Par, completing a memorable and engaging trip that brought their ideas to life.

This week in Cherry class.....
Another wonderful week, filled with skills-based learning, focused on preparation for adulthood. As well as our first Bikeability session of the year, Cherry class have been very busy with their work-related learning. We have been decorating our tulips ready for the Spring Show and we have been cutting and making bunting to sell at our Street Market too! In PE, we have continued to focus on Dance, putting together 2 and 3 movement sequences with some great success. Our learners have been outside, preparing the planting area for our broad beans, which have been measured in class (there is great competitiveness as to whose broad bean plant is the tallest!), ready for planting next week. After our busy My Future event last Friday, Brunch Club was back in full swing this week – our focus this term is lunch options, so we made a range of baguettes that the staff who bought them thoroughly enjoyed; and the learners made their own to take home as well.
