Post 16
Learners who are continuing to make progress, socially and academically within a school and classroom setting have the opportunity to remain at Doubletrees for their Post 16 phase of their education. Post 16 placements are allocated by the Local Authority, in line with the annual review process. Post 16 learners remain with their Upper School peers and continue to access the upper school offer. In addition to this, Post 16 learners have an enhanced focus on their individual Preparing for Adulthood Outcomes and access additional modules of the ASDAN Personal Progress Accreditation to further prepare them for life beyond school.

The post-16 special educational needs (SEN) information area for young people in year 9 and above with Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans in Cornwall.
We aim to provide young people, families, parents, carers and SENCOs with information about all the options available as each young person explores and makes choices for post-16 education and training.
ASDAN's courses, which can be delivered in all post-16 institutions, range from supporting students during their post-16 transition year to helping young people develop the skills and knowledge to progress on to higher education, training or work.
DofE is open to any young person aged 14-24. Participants build their own programme, choosing activities and a cause to volunteer for. The DofE is structured into three levels of Award which increase in challenge and duration: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The main differences between the Award levels are the minimum length of time it takes to complete the programme, how challenging it is, and the minimum age you can start. There are four main sections of a DofE programme: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition.

Your Future Kernow provides careers advice, guidance, and signposting support to eligible young people and their families in Cornwall. The service aims to assist in transitions into post-16 education.
We support students with SEND, young people in care, care leavers, and those in alternative provision, including hospital education and elective home education.
While schools and colleges offer careers advice, some individuals require more tailored support. Your Future Kernow offers additional assistance for these individuals to address barriers, access specialist services, and consider their next steps.
The service is also responsible for statutory tracking and monitoring of young people after age 16 to identify their destinations, or to provide signposting for those not in employment, education, or training post-16.
