Governors & Overview
Doubletrees School is a part of the Special Partnership Trust
Whilst we have a clear legal framework that identifies the roles and responsibilities of each level of governance, please follow the link below for more details.
Here at Doubletrees we have a local governing body which has a key focus on school improvement in their local setting. They monitor, challenge and support schools in achieving outstanding learning. They represent the views and experiences of pupils, staff and families.
An introduction to the Governors at Doubletrees School
Anthony Billings - Co-opted Governor - Chair of Governors

Co-opted Governor
A bit about me. In 1973 I joined the Royal Navy and spent 27 years in the submarine service. In 2000, I completed my time in the RN and went offshore in the oil and gas industry as a ROV (remote operated vehicle) trainee. After 20 years offshore I retired as an ROV Superintendent, the highest position possible in that department.
Following retirement, I was co-opted on to St Blazey Town Council where I was pleased to accept the position of Doubletrees school governor, along with other work on the council. I have a strong engineering background from my time in the RN and offshore plus a strong background in Health & Safety.
I enjoy gardening, fish keeping and walking our dogs, but my passion is woodworking and wood turning.
Lucy Hall - Staff Governor

Staff Governor
My name is Lucy Hall and I have recently been appointed as the staff governor for Doubletrees.
I have been a teacher in Primary Schools for the last 15 years.
One year ago I decided I wanted a change and applied for a job at Doubletrees. I was lucky enough to be successful and have enjoyed every minute working here since.
I lead English across the school and have enjoyed sharing my passion for reading with the learners.
I live very local to the school and understand the role Doubletrees plays in the local community.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two young children and our favourite place to visit is the beach.
Heidi Hoskin - Ex officio

Head Teacher
email: PA to the Head Teacher. enquiries@doubletrees.org.uk
I have been teaching in Cornish schools for 21 years, with 10 years as a headteacher alongside 8 years of executive leadership experience. My own experience as a teacher and, later, headteacher has given me a firm understanding of school pressures, enabling me to secure continually improving outcomes for children. I firmly believe I can support schools to deliver their vision in practice; by sharing effective practice and understanding each school’s diverse community. Furthermore, I operate as a transparent, collaborative team leader who inspires confidence among my colleagues—which has led to high retention amongst the staff I manage.
I passionately believe that headteachers and staff should be empowered to focus on their central purpose— achieving outstanding outcomes and providing broad curriculum opportunities for each and every child.
This is enhanced through coaching, clearly communicated accountabilities and the development of robust support mechanisms and processes.
Imogen Tomlinson - Parent Governor

Parent Governor
After spending most of my career in hospitality I moved to the Civil Service back in 2020 with the hope of doing something that would make a difference and to have a positive impact on people's lives.
I am also Chairperson of my local pre school that both my children attended, and now have my eldest child at Doubletrees. I wanted to be involved in some aspect with their education, and what better way than by helping their setting achieve the very best they can!
When I get some spare time, I like to cook and bake and am a keen runner also.

Lisa Skinner - Co-opted Governor

I am an experienced early years manager and SENDCo now working for Cornwall Council as part of their education effectiveness team. I have extensive experience in safeguarding and supporting vulnerable families.
Steve Mason - Co-opted Governor

I have recently retired from a successful career in special education, teaching and leading across a variety of roles. Since I started in 1989 I have had the privilege of working with some absolutely amazing teachers who have inspired me to never lose sight of the abilities that children and young people with a range of special educational needs have.
I have taught in special schools, worked with SENCos in mainstream primary and secondary schools and lectured in two universities. Since 2009 I have tutored on the Nation Award for SEN Coordination ( now a National Professional Qualification) and most recently was Director of a large Teaching School partnership. This latter role included enabling mainstream staff to teach children and young people with a wider range of additional and special educational needs. I have developed training programmes for a range of staff from classroom support to senior leaders and Governors across a range of SEN related themes. I also developed a schools based teacher training course (PGCE) with an SEN specialism and University accreditation.
Although my career took me away from the classroom, my proudest times have been when empowering children and young people with profound and complex needs to enjoy and achieve in their learning. I also co-wrote a book on developing an inclusive curriculum for children and young people with profound and complex needs.
My passion has always been to work with what can be done, not what can’t, to see the child before any label, and believe that better practice is always achievable.
Outside of school I can be found walking our three dogs on the Moors and beaches.
