This week in the Discovery Pathway.....

Cedar Class.....

In Cedar class this week, we have enjoyed a visit from the St Austell Firefighters. We got to sit in the fire truck and even heard the sirens. They were very loud!

We have been learning about different celebrations in RE with a focus on birthdays. This week we played some party games - pass the parcel, musical, statues and musical chairs. These activities help us with our Personal Social and Emotional learning too as we had to take turns and manage our emotions when someone else went first or we didn't win. Lots of great learning opportunities and we had so much fun. Everyone joined in!

We have been learning about shorter and longer in maths. This week we have been learning how to measure using a ruler.

We use sensory massage each day as one of the ways we regulate and calm. Sometimes we form a long line so that everyone benefits from a sensory massage. The children really enjoy this quiet moment after lunch to relax, ready for our afternoon of learning.

Maple Class.....

Maple Class have been learning about 3D shapes, exploring their names, features, and properties such as faces, edges, and vertices. The children worked hard to identify and describe a variety of shapes, including cubes, cylinders, cones, and spheres. They then went on a shape hunt around the school, spotting examples of these shapes in everyday objects such as tins, boxes, and balls. Everyone enjoyed linking their learning to the real world and developing their understanding of geometry in a fun and practical way.

Cherry Class.....

As well as baking with the Great Cornish Food Store team, making fireworks out of 3D shapes, learning about Harvest with seeds and squashes and meeting the local Fire Service and exploring their engine, our learners have also been preparing for the end of term Halloween Disco that they are hosting with the other Upper School classes. Cherry class have had a very busy few weeks!
